Cavallina Dolcezza

Cavallina Dolcezza is a small, elegant, purebred, bay Arabian (Pali Wind X Bint Maru).  She is seen in the first picture under saddle for the third time in her life in 2000, I think.  She is being ridden by the lovely and talented Coco Strauser.   Dolcezza is the daughter of my beloved  mare, Bint Maru who passed away at 30-1/2.

Since 2000, Dolcezza has been pretty much a lawn ornament until 2009 when I began training my new Arabian mare, Sygnet using Parelli Natural Horsemanship principles and techniques.  Things were going so well with Sygnet, that I decided to retrain Dolcezza.  The training of both horses is a work in progress.  I don't have any good photos of Dolcezza under saddle in 2009.  Below is a pricture I took  of the other two horses during a training session on Dolcezza.

PNH basically puts the relationship with the horse first and is a program for developing one's skills as a communicator in the language of the horse.  It gives the horse consideration and responsibilities in the partnership and it challenges the human to learn and use the language of the horse to communicate and to look first at how we are miscommunicating and not to blame the horse.  PNH students achieve working relationships with their horses that  become magical.   The PNH also forms a communication foundation which underpins better partnership between horse and rider in any discipline of riding.

Coco on Dolzezza  (about the 3rd time under saddle)

Below is my first Youtube video.  It's Baby and Dolcezza and me,  out in the woods working on our relationship.  I'm the one with the camera. Dol is on line and Baby, who loves Dol to pieces, is free and  follows along behind.  Most of the time, we don't see anyone, but if we do, I quickly clip a lead rope on Babe.

And a picture taken from atop Dolcezza's back in September, 2009.  I like that her ears are facing back towards me.  We are looking forward at Baby and Sygnet on the other side of the yard.
