Nestled beneath the Ko'olau Range in Waimanalo by The Sea, our small, organic, market garden/farm is a paradise for those who yearn to experience country-style Hawaii in a world away from the beaten path yet only a short, scenic drive from Honolulu.
City folk and country people alike, can be part of nature's miracle, gain an interesting and pleasurable hobby, educate the keikis (children), produce food that is free of pesticides, experiment with heirloom varieties with better taste than supermarket vegetables and fruits, and become more self-sufficient by growing your own food. Biointensive, organic, elevated bed gardening is a lot less labor intensive for greater productivity than conventional gardening. About Olomana Gardens:
Olomana Gardens is situated on a kuleana lot that was awarded to the Hawaiian tenant farmer, Kahopuna in the Land Commission awards of 1846-1855, under the kingdom of Hawaii. Olomana Gardens is a production and demonstration, organic market garden including organic, biointensively-produced vegetables, and selected fruits, herbs and ornamental plants; exotic chickens, geese, turkeys and ducks, naturally-raised eggs (no antibiotics, no hormones); and a private, old-style, Hawaiian garden. We are a member of the Hawaii Organic Farmers Association.
We are registered with the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture as a worm breeder and dealer on Oahu.. We sell worms, castings, aerobic worm compost teas primarily to Oahu customers. Families can begin worm-composting their home food scraps and coffee grounds to produce clean, odorless, nutrient-rich worm castings. The castings can be used as a rich, fertilizer for houseplants, or in your vegetable or flower garden. We also recommend Hawaii Rainbow Worms on the Big Island for interisland residential sales. We sell the Can-O-Worm bin for people who want to set up their own worm bin. Alternatively, Waikiki Worm Company delivers the Can-O-Worms set up in your home or apartment on Oahu.
Our worms are bred and raised in organic compost. We sell both Perionyx excavatus (Indian Blue Worms) and Amynthus gracilis (Alabama Jumpers) which will eat both household and animal waste. See "More About Worms." We also have the Pontoscolex corethrurus, the Brazilian invertebrate "bulldozer", an earth-tilling worm that has been shown to stimulate phosphorus mineralization processes in soil, making phosphorus accessible to plants. The Pontoscolex is more challenging to breed and we do not offer them for sale at this time. Another worm that we have discovered in wet clay areas on property is the Polypheretima elongata. None of the above worms are native to Hawaii, but they have naturalized in Hawaii. Hawaii has no native worms.

Pre-assembled, , biointensive POG (pallet organic garden) mini-farms delivered to your location on Oahu, for residential or farm food production. POGs can be fixed-sided or collapsible for easy transportation. Some examples are shown below.

Worms and ready-to-use worm composting systems for residential, school, restaurant and agricultural use (vermi-composting).
We also provide farm tours and hands-on, on-site education for our customers in organic, biointensive, raised bed cultivation and vermi-composting.
Our small animal husbandry operation (needs free Flip Viewer available at Flip Album's web site), involves raising fancy feathered chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and other exotic fowl (not fighting chickens). We've also been known to sell pet, miniature, pot-bellied pigs and black velvet rabbits. Inquire with Glenn if you would like advice, equipment or help in acquiring or raising animals. We also have a small aquaculture operation raising aquarium plants and Japanese carp.
We also offer basic lessons for horse and rider safety and safe trail riding.

ABOUT OLOMANA GARDENS ( See a magnificent watercolor by Bridgette Adams
Winding paths lead through terraced gardens shaded by towering, tropical trees. There are stunning views of the rugged Koolau Mountains and Mount Olomana. A natural, spring-fed stream runs through the property with the musical sounds of waterfalls and water playing over rocks. There is a koi pond which is home to many, large, colorful koi (carp), which we raise and sell. A gazebo over the water graces the water lily and lotus pond. The cool spring water of the rock-lined, swimming hole provides a cool oasis for warm, tropical afternoons.
In the immediate locality, there are extensive, rain-forest hiking/biking trails and underground water tunnels, and many Hawaiian historical sites.
Olomana Gardens is less than 30 minutes from Honolulu on the windward side of the island of Oahu.
For visiting the gardens, or to purchase worms, please call ahead the day before for an appointment.
